Embroidery for Beginners Saturday 24th August 10am - 4pm
Always wanted to try embroidery but not sure where to begin? In this relaxed and informal class, I will walk you through all of the basics, teach you the key stitches you need to know to get started, and help you begin your first embroidery piece!
We will begin the day at 10am with a welcome introduction, drinks and biscuits. Next we will talk about needles and threads. We will discuss the commonly used needles, sizes and also the large variety of threads on the market. We will explore cotton, wool and stranded threads as well as discussing how and when to split threads.
Next we will try out a few of the basic stitches, as well as learning how to start and end your thread.
At 12pm we will break for an afternoon tea style lunch. A menu will be sent to you ahead of time so you can choose what you would like as well as let me know of any allergies and dietary requirements.
After lunch you will look through my collection of vintage embroidery transfers, choose a design and learn how to trace the design to fabric. We will then stitch away on our designs with a further break for drinks and cake.
The day will conclude at 4pm and you can take your design away with you to finish at home with your new found confidence and skills, along with a starter kit of needles and any threads you would like to choose to complete your project.
Classes will be a maximum of 6 people to ensure maximum attention.
Classes are held at my studio in Skelmersdale Lancashire. Classes are for over 18s only. Please note that my studio is on the top floor which requires walking up two flights of stairs and regrettably there is no wheelchair access and no lift. Free parking onsite.
During your visit there will also be the opportunity to look through the items I sell in my shop and to make a purchase if you would like to. Card payment preferred.
After booking your place, I will be in touch with further details via email, including directions and public transport details if needed. Looking forward to welcoming you here.
Cancellation Policy
In the extremely unlikely event that I need to cancel the class, a full refund for the class will be given but I will not be able to compensate any transport and accommodation costs arranged by you.
If you need to cancel the class after booking, a full refund will be given up to a week before the class is due to start. After that, 50% of the cost of the class will be refunded unless I am able to fill your place, and in that case, a full refund will be given. Thank you for your understanding.
