Create your own Miniature Hexagon Quilt - Saturday 19th October 10am - 4pm
In this class I will introduce you to the world of miniature patchwork! We will use tiny, 1/2" hexiform hexagons to create a beautiful, heirloom mini quilt perfect for displaying on the wall. This piece will be small, approx 10" square or less. Some experience of hand sewing would be useful for this class but if you've never tried English paper piecing full instruction will be given.
We will begin the day at 10am with a welcome introduction, drinks and biscuits. Next we will discuss the English paper piecing method of patchwork and talk about glue basting and using hexiform rather than paper.
Next we will look at different designs and layout for your hexagons, discuss fabric placement, colour and pattern and you will create a plan for your design. We will also begin basting our hexagons using the glue method and a selection of Liberty tana lawn fabrics mixed with quilting cottons for the ultimate "scrappy" effect.
At 12pm we will break for an afternoon tea style lunch. A menu will be sent to you ahead of time so you can choose what you would like as well as let me know of any allergies and dietary requirements.
After lunch we will discuss needles and threads then begin to stitch our designs together and your heirloom piece will begin to take shape.
The day will conclude at 4pm and you can take your design away with you to finish at home with your new found confidence and skills, along with the fabrics, hexiform and threads you will need to complete it.
Classes will be a maximum of 6 people to ensure maximum attention.
Classes are held at my studio in Skelmersdale Lancashire. Classes are for over 18s only. Please note that my studio is on the top floor which requires walking up two flights of stairs and regrettably there is no wheelchair access and no lift. Free parking onsite.
During your visit there will also be the opportunity to look through the items I sell in my shop and to make a purchase if you would like to. Card payment preferred.
After booking your place, I will be in touch with further details via email, including directions and public transport details if needed. Looking forward to welcoming you here.
Cancellation Policy
In the extremely unlikely event that I need to cancel the class, a full refund for the class will be given but I will not be able to compensate any transport and accommodation costs arranged by you.
If you need to cancel the class after booking, a full refund will be given up to a week before the class is due to start. After that, 50% of the cost of the class will be refunded unless I am able to fill your place, and in that case, a full refund will be given. Thank you for your understanding.
